Trauma and PTSD counseling, including EMDR

Care for people affected by trauma, abuse or loss, in Eustis, Clermont and by telehealth.

Traumatic experiences, whether a single event or something that went on for a long time, can affect sleep, relationships, concentration and how safe the world feels. Several of our counselors focus on trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse and domestic violence, with children, teens and adults.

Some of our counselors, including Ericka Finley also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a structured therapy used for trauma. Others use talk-based approaches. You and your counselor decide together what fits, and you set the pace.

Counseling can help if you

  • keep reliving a difficult experience, or avoid reminders of it
  • feel on guard, jumpy or numb much of the time
  • are struggling with the effects of abuse or domestic violence
  • want support for a child who has been through something frightening

Common questions

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. It is offered by some of our counselors, so mention it when you request an appointment and we will match you with someone who provides it.

Do I have to talk about everything that happened?

No. You decide what to share and when. Feeling safe with your counselor comes first.

Do you see children who have experienced trauma?

Yes. Several of our counselors work with children and adolescents, including through play therapy.
